Dancehall Artiste Patra targets summer return, to unveil new album.

For several years, many Dancehall fans have wondered when one of the genre's first ladies would ever make a comeback and why she disappeared from the spotlight. It appears now as if those questions have finally been answered.

Internationally acclaimed Dancehall superstar, Dorothy Smith, more popularly known as Patra became of the genre's first acts to garner international success, dominating the early 90s with hits such as Romantic Call, Dip and Fall Back, Scent of Attraction, as well as her chart-topping album, Queen of the Pack. She also collaborated with Grammy-winning Dancehall superstar, Shabba Ranks in 1994 for the hit single, Family Affair which became a top 100 hit on the United States Billboard Charts.

Since then, Patra has made sporadic mainstream appearances; briefly returning in the early 2000s with two albums, The Great Escape (2003) and Where I've Been (2005). Now, after several years away from the public eye, Patra insists she's back with a full force as she plans to release her new album this summer. The legendary Dancehall diva has been working on her 12-track album in New York and is being managed by A&R Executive/Producer, Rich Nice.

According to Patra, her absence from the music scene was necessary given that she was dealing with burdens brought on her by the industry, turning down several shows while battling bouts of depression.
During her absence, Patra said that she became more spiritually connected to God and completed her Bachelor's Degree in history and political science.

Patra promises fans a return of the hardcore, rough edge persona which made her a household name nearly two decades ago, intimating that 2012 will see her evolution come to fruition.
