Reggae's most exciting new prospect Iba Mahr is overjoyed with the success of his breakout single, Will I Wait, which t currently holds the number one position on Richie B's Reggae Countdown.
“It’s a great feeling to finally get the recognition that a song like that truly deserves and I hope it is a sign of greater things to come,” he said in a release.
The artiste continues to attract listeners more each day with his newest singles, “Sound a Alarm”, produced by Born Rolling Productions and more recently, “Burning”, produced by Notice Productions on “The Heart and Soul Riddim’ which also features Jah Cure, Chuck Fenda, Hezron, Busy Signal, Chris Martin and many others.
The singer’s management team believes that Burning is a sure-fire hit because of its hard-hitting message. Iba Mahr croons: “So caught in their world of wealth and nothing else is on their minds/ and oh so too ashamed to show it on the inside”.
“Burning is being featured on radio stations here in Jamaica, UK, South America and other parts of the world. These songs were really for the people, but it was also my intention to beg the high authorities a chance to address the nation with love and we could say these words didn’t fall on deaf hear as last year was considered one of the most peaceful elections,” the talented Iba Mahr said.
Iba Mahr has performed on all major shows last year, and gave a rousing performance at this year's Pepsi Rebel Salute where his hits, Born Free, Sound a Alarm and the emphatic Will I Wait earned him rave reviews. He thanked the Flames Production team for the opportunity to have graced the annual show.
“I personally think the high point of my performance that night at Rebel Salute was when I did the Bob Marley’s Waiting In Vain. The people really loved it!" said Iba.
After igniting the flames and saluting the rebel inside of Sports Kaiser the young singer had the opportunity to display his talent on the second night of The Jazz and Blues Festival inside of the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium, entertaining audience on a night with other performances such as international acts Celine Dion, Richie Stephens and Gentleman.
As the country pauses to recognize February as Reggae Month, the chanter will be making appearances at a number of shows and events throughout the month of February. Already, Iba has graced the stage, singing to fans at North Street, Kingston, all of who were joyfully remembering the Crown Prince of Reggae, Dennis Emanuel Brown. He also made a brilliant cameo at Roots Underground’s ‘Growing’ inside of Hope Gardens and also performing at Trench Town's Bob Marley Celebration which features several heavyweight acts.
Iba Mahr is managed by producers Jermaine and Roland of Born Rolling Production who are molding the young talent into a brilliant artiste whose new sound is going to ignite the world of reggae. The artiste’s debut album is expected to be released this summer.
“The album will advocate love in all forms, spiritual consciousness and social commentary. It a come together very nice and it clean, I think it will be loved by all ages,“ Iba Mahr stressed.
His message is now reverberating in the streets with fans hailing him with a salutatory ‘Iba Mahr from Far’ when they encounter him in the streets.
